Northern Macedonia opens borders under conditions: Citizens must be equipped with test response to COVID-19

Northern Macedonia authorities have decided to open borders for people who want to return home and not only, but will be obliged to submit the test's response to COVID-19. By contrast, citizens must be quarantined to centers designated by the state. “Those who have a valid test [...]
Even those who have a valid test that proves they don't have the corona virus, but those who don't have such a test still go to quarantine or isolation 14 days anyway. The only difference is that those who don't have the test go to state quarantine. That's where the state determines it.
While others have a valid test, they are obliged to go into isolation at an address they declare at the moment they enter this border point, and then police go to regular checks and check whether they are adhering to the 14-day isolation rules”, Euronews Albania correspondent Ferikan Ilyazi reported from the Tabanoci border crossing point.
Citizens who had no test are expected police escorts for several hours at the Tabanoci border point that connects the country with Serbia to lead to state quarantine.
We'll test the state quarantine. It's safer there. So there's nowhere. It's a free passage everywhere. From Germany to here I've been here for 16 hours, while I've been waiting 10 hours at the border, says a citizen who goes to state quarantine.
For citizens who had passed the test, the procedure was shorter, and they were allowed themselves to go to the settlement where they would be isolated.
I am a university professor, coming to Macedonia with calls to the Fon University in Skopje. Once I enter Skopje, I have to test and go into isolation”, says a citizen who goes into isolation.
There were also citizens who came to the border to be interested if they were able to return to European countries where they live and work, but the only answer they got was that they should address embassies.
We're with Italian documents, but we're afraid to travel. We've been here since our new year. We miss our grandchildren in Italy. Even when we get to Italy, they'll test us and we'll go to quarantine”, says a citizen living in Italy.
Macedonia still does not have an official date when it will open borders, even though most neighbouring states have already made such a decision. The opening of borders was extended due to the high numbers of infected persons over the past few weeks.
In the last 24 hours, North Macedonia recorded 127 new cases on COVID-19 and 2 victims.
