The attacks, in the districts of Mongo and Nganza, of Borno State, came just days after militants killed at least 69 people in another village.
Two humanitarian workers and three residents told Reuters that armed militants, including grenades and rockets, arrived in Mongno, a country where many non-governmental international organisations are stationed around 11am. They invaded the government forces, and killed at least 20 of them, writes The Guardian, following Periscope.
Sources said hundreds of civilians were injured in shootings, overcrowding local hospitals.
These sources added that militants also set fire to the police station and burned the UN humanitarian organisations' office.
Militants handed letters to residents, threatening not to work with Christian Westerners and others “denied”.
