The June 24th parade at Moscow Red Square will mark the 75th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.
Russia traditionally holds this event on May 9th, but it has been postponed because of the coronary pandemic.
Relations between Washington and Moscow remain tense on a range of issues, including conflicts in Syria and Ukraine.
During their telephone conversation, Shoigu and Esper discussed gun control and co-operation in the fight against the Coronavirus, the Russian Defence Ministry said.
On June 1st, US President Donald Trump has held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the latest “efforts to defeat the Corleone pandemic and reopen global economies”, the White House has announced.
