Brazil has withdrew its candidacy to organise the 2023 World in women's football. Brazil's Football Confederation (CBF) has announced that the Government has not seen it as wise to offer financial guarantees in light of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
“due to the economic crisis caused by the pandemic COVID-19, the government has estimated that it cannot now sign the guarantee demanded by FIFA” is said in the CBF communiqué.
Brazil has hosted a number of major sports events in recent years, including the 2014 World in men's football, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, and Copa American in 2019.
Brazil will now support Colombia in candidacy for the Women's World 2023 football.
Columbia, Japan, and New Zealand are running for the event.
