Croatia's prime minister, Andrej Plenkov, has estimated that the Croatian presidency and the summit of EU and Western Balkan leaders sent a strong signal to the countries of the region that the bloc is with them and that it is ready to help on the road to membership.
” The goal is to send a signal for continuing dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. This will not only normalise their relations, but also help them send a positive signal to the region's stability and move forward in achieving other priorities on the road to the EU, Plenkov said after video conference.
He said enlargement was a priority of Croatia's EU presidency, and the leadership conference itself was a key element.
“Croatia has passed a long and necessary process on the road to the EU and has used that process to transform its political, legislative and economic system”, Plenkov said, reports Blitzi, broadcasts Kosovo.
The head of the Croatian executive estimates that the new methodology of the accession process, adopted at the beginning of the year, will help Serbia and Montenegro already negotiating, as well as northern Macedonia and Albania in the future.
According to him, Croatia, during its presidency, focused on Bosnia, both its neighbour and its closest country, according to Zagreb, deserves candidate status.
