Vetevendosje Movement chairmanship member Albulen Haxhiu says judges at the Constitutional Court are being put under constant pressure to make a decision in favour of the mandated decree by the president, Hashim Thaci.
Haxhiu in an interview for Kosovo Press says that although there have been statements on party animation of constitutional judges, it is their last moment to restore the Constitutional Court's dignity.
If the Constitutional Court is not in charge, and is influenced by pressures that could go, and we have heard there are many pressures being put to judges at the Constitutional Court. Then, of course, she lacks the sense of having the Constitutional Court, where decisions can be made from this court following a pressure from someone”, she said.
Minister Haxhiu voiced confidence that legal arguments on the mandate issue stand on their side.
Until he says he cannot prejudge the actions he will take in case the Constitutional Court legitimises Thaci's decree.
It's the last time the Constitutional Court has to return to dignity, but integrity is also because no matter how often this court makes no constitutional decisions... I know there have been many statements about where the members of the Constitutional Court were, what political subjects. I'm saying once again that this subject that the Constitutional Court has before itself is one of the most important subjects ever faced. It has a huge impact on the long-term”, Haxhiu says.
As for 100 days at the head of the Justice Ministry, Haxhiu says he has achieved great successes. According to her, the initiative of the Veting Law and of the seizure of unwarranted property is among them.
This bill will allow the prosecutor to seek accounts for an official's assets. If an official has a redress on his income then he has the right to seek justification for his wealth. Something that can't actually happen”, she says.
Haxhiu for Kosovo Press also spoke of the Dehari case, which says representatives of the Swiss Institute will come to Kosovo by month to co-operate with the prosecutor and whiteen his case.
Our government is committed to whitening this case and our government will support justice institutions to whiteen the case, Dehari Responsibilant, to stand trial”, Minister Haxhiu said.
