Like most of the country's businesses, the pandemic caused by Coronavirus has also greatly damaged the insurance industry in the country, as the number of police sold by insurance companies has declined to a minimum, as far as the other side on the street is large numbers of vehicles running, even without record. This, since, for some time, have not worked with full capacity the Auto-registering Centres operating within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration (MPBA).

Automotive registration centres, since the first cases with Covi-19 were marked in Kosovo and launched safeguard clauses, have been allowed to work for emergencies only, and complaints have already begun.

Despite this, although an accurate estimate of the financial loss of insurance companies has not yet been made, the head of the Insurance Association, Sami Mazrek, says that incomes during this time have dropped by 50 percent in proportion to the first months of the year.

Because we're in Pandem even at this moment, companies haven't yet calculated exactly what the losses might be and we don't have accurate data, but generally getting access to revenues during this time have dropped over 50 %s in relation to the first months of”, Mazreku said of FactePlus.

He says the decision to close automotive registration centres has directly affected the immediate decline in the sale of security officers, resulting in the number of registered vehicles.

“The closure of auto-registering Centres automatically increased the number of unregistered vehicles in the country. For March alone, the sale of binding police is nearly 20,000 less in relation to the previous months, but the situation in April has deteriorated further”, the potential Mazreku.

And on May 4th, the Ministry of Health made a decision to gradually facilitate measures imposed on Coronavirus protection. And now with the relief of these measures, the problem is not seen to be the opening of these centers.

Mazreku has told the fact that they have asked institutions to open these registration centres and start with increased intensity.

There is no other way. We have asked the country's institutions for these centres to open, since increasing the number of registered vehicles, except that it causes huge losses for domestic institutions, such a thing also seriously damages insurance companies”, he stressed.

The Mazreku also shows how the closure of automotive registration centers has affected.

Meanwhile, automotive registration centres these days have worked mainly on emergency cases and are in medical vehicles and those for shipping goods have not worked for ordinary citizens.

So at least there are citizens' complaints from many Kosovo cities.

But these complaints have been dismissed by MPBAs, saying that all centers have worked, except those in the year, Malisheva and Kline, which have been quarantined.

“In all centres except municipalities: Year, Malisheve and Kline, vehicle registration services have been performed without any problems for medical cases and cases of registration of vehicles for transport of goods. It's been reported on every day for which record statistics” were presented, so said of the FactPlus News Agency, by MPBA.

Economics expert Safet Gerjaliu has said it is disturbing that automotive registration centres are not functioning with full capacity and are only in emergency cases.

If we continue to increase the flow of cars in communications and we don't have cars registered and secured in Kosovo, and we have a drop in revenues from insurance companies, who will compensate for the damage that can be caused in accidents that happen at this time. So, registration centres should be opened and we don't have a quagmire of a sector, which in normal circumstances is one of the main pillars of Kosovo economic and financial development”, Economy expert Safet Gerjaliu said.

On May 4th in Kosovo, the first phase of easing the isolation measures against the Coronavirus has started. So from that day, a number of businesses have gradually begun to open, and another part is expected to open during the next few days.
