More than 300,000 Britons are believed to have quit smoking during the coronary crisis following reports that smokers are more vulnerable to the new disease. According to a joint investigation by organisations “YouGov” and “Action on Smoking and Health”, another 550,000 have made efforts to give up smoking, while 2.4 million people have rarely inhaled cigarettes.
A survey of 1,004 participants found that 2 percent of smokers have left their cigarette because of concerns about coronarys, 8 percent have tried to quit, 36 percent have reduced smoking, and 27 percent are likely to give up smoking.
The quarter of participants in this survey said they are less likely to continue smoking, although 4 percent said that the pandemic has pushed them more into the process.
Research results were welcomed by several health organisations and groups campaigning against smoking, writes the Guardian”.
