It turns out only 32% of parents have tried to control their children's equipment, which means few do it every day.
It is a highly controversial topic about whether or not parents need to monitor their children's equipment, and people have different opinions on the subject. On the one hand, it's about trust and privacy, but on the other hand it's about their safety. Most parents seem to have made their choice in behalf of faith.
However, teachers seem to have a different opinion and call on parents to check on their children's equipment. Brighton Side decided to understand the reasons for this, and frankly, they sound very convincing:
Parents need to teach their children how to use mobile phones
Like many other social activities, use of mobile phones and the Internet should be taught by parents. Children need to be aware of the dangers of the Internet, and it should be shown how and why they have to define appropriate boundaries. It is important to teach children about security, how to create content, what they can and cannot be posted, and how to navigate the Internet.
Parents Do Not Know Much About Their Children
The online world is the most dangerous place children have access to, and it's where children spend a large part of their lives. Parents usually don't have access to it, nor do they try, valuing their children's privacy. It's an unpersonized world where so much is possible and children don't have their parents' instruction. As a result, children may become involved in unacceptable activities.
Mobile Phones are the source of an uncertain environment
With internet and mobile phones, children today face even more problems than previous generations faced at their age. All activities, including harmful and destructive, are even more readily available on the Internet, which are flooded with information, media and inappropriate behavior. To ensure a secure environment, it is essential to monitor the activities involved and to speak through their experience, providing them with emotional instruction and support.
Parents should be present in their children's lives
With children being too involved in wise phones, they spend less time with their parents. The gap between children and parents is growing, and children are more often distanced from their parents. The information that older generations have received from their parents, children now receive from the internet using unreliable sources, and they don't usually discuss them. But it is up to parents to discuss their problems with their children, their future, their bodies, their relationships, and everything else.
