Football legend says he is praying for a quick solution to the fake passport scandal. He and his brother were seized with a false passport in Paraguay, and right now both are continuing their sentence in domestic prison at a hotel in the state of South America.
Ronaldinho, 40, former Barcelona and Milan player, has said the first thing he will do after he is released is to hug his mother, Miguelin.
Ronaldinho admits that he has never been able to imagine finding himself in such a situation. He spoke in an exclusive interview for “Paraguay's ABC Color<x1.
Insisting that he had no idea that the Paraguay passports given to him and his brother on March 4 were false, he added: “We were totally shocked when we realized that the documents were not regular. From that moment on, our aim has been to co-operate with the courts to clarify things”.
In an interview from the hotel “Palmagova”, where it has been serving home prison since April 7th, he said: “I have faith. I always pray that things will be settled, and if God wants this to be over soon. He hit me hard when I realized that I was going to jail. I never thought I'd be in a situation like this. All my life I've tried professionally to reach the highest level and bring happiness to people with my football”.

Ronaldinho confirmed that he had traveled to Paraguay with his brother Roberto de Assis Moreira to participate in opening an online casino and publishing a book.

He insisted that he was happy to give autographs and pose with the people he met in prison.
“Futball, autographing and pose for photo has always been part of my life. I had no reason to stop this, especially with people who were experiencing a difficult time like me”, Ronaldinho said.
He also told of his plans after his release.

Ronaldinho and his brother had been arrested on March 6th on the run in Paraguay with false passports from this country.
The investigation into the case is continuing, and authorities are investigating whether the fake passport scandal, which has led to a number of arrests, including a Brazilian businessman allegedly given documents to Ronaldinho and his brother, has been linked to a attempted money laundering operation.
Ronaldinho has been warned that he may remain in house arrest for several months before a decision is made on whether he will be tried.
Brazil has turned 40 last month, while celebrating its birthday in prison with other prisoners.
The crime being investigated could lead to a maximum prison sentence of up to five years.
Ronaldinho and his brother insist they were deceived.
Their lawyer, Adolfo Marin, says the footballer had been given passports as a gift, assessing that it was a type of honorary document of real value. However, he had issued his passport to show the authorities unwittingly because it was the first thing he seized from his bag.
Last month the lawyer called Ronaldinho a fool because he did not realize that he had been given false documents to enter Paraguay.
Ronaldinho has taken care of various scandals outside the field since it peaked in football.
He retired in 2018. In the same year, he was forced to deny charges of biggamy.
He had been confiscated from Brazilian passports after being sentenced along with his brother for illegal construction, but Paraguayn prosecutors confirmed last month that Ronaldinho had returned passports and used it to leave São Paulo during his flight to Paraguay.
But this has raised numerous questions about why Ronaldinho was urged not to use the same passport at his entry in Paraguay.
His lawyer's comments, that the Paraguay passport was the first thing in his hands, were met with doses of distrust.
Last year it was reported that Ronaldinho had only about $7 in his account.
Police had raided Ronaldinho's family's house by confiscated valuables in an attempt to guarantee the payment of the fine he was pronounced for illegal construction in a lake.
Officials in Brazil in November last year have shown that they confiscated three luxury cars and a work of art by painter Andre Berardo.
Ronald's brother in 2012, had been sentenced to prison for five years in Brazil for money laundering and other financial crimes.
At that time, Roberto de Assis was reportedly accused of lying with Brazilian tax authorities and that money is being kept in the secret accounts in Switzerland.
