Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Mergim Lushtaku has sharply criticised Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Health Minister Arben Vitita, who, according to him, ignore the municipality Malisheva and are not helping or visiting even though there are mostly cases of coronavirus.

Lushtaku has written on his Facebook page that Malisheva, who was in the war, is today an example of working citizenship and deserves much greater support to overcome this crisis.

Deputy Mergim Lushtaku's full statement:

Comfort the families who lost their most loved ones to the Ovid 19 virus!

With concern, I am following developments related to managing the situation created after the spread of the Devis-19 virus in Kosovo. Kosovo's government has not seriously treated the Malisheva municipality as the epidre of this virus in Kosovo. Out of about 170 infected with Covid-19 in Kosovo, 62 of them are from the Malisheva Community.

Despite that, Prime Minister Kurti and neither Health Minister Vitita have been able to visit this municipality, which is not being adequately supported by the Government of Kosovo for political resentment. Even citizens of this municipality are often offended and unjustly offended by the ruling party militants. These stereotypes are unacceptable. It is a grave statement made by the mayor of Malisheva the day before, where he suggested he helped Malisheva a private drug store rather than the Ministry of Health.

All citizens and all municipalities should be treated equally, but where the source of the infection is greater institutional attention is needed, as municipalities have limited financial capacity to cope with this pandemic. Malisevo has been the hearth of the Kosovo Liberation Army, today is an example of working citizenship and deserves much greater support to overcome this crisis.

Stay at home, keep distance, and keep clean. We'll get through this together.
