They keep their distance while wearing masks. I can say that the customers are now calmer”, says a store manager.
In the past week, Germany freed many restrictions imposed on preventing corruption from spreading. Shops up to 500 square feet [800 sq m] reopened, as did car and bicycle stores, regardless of their size.
However, mandatory wearing of masks has been found reasonable. The violation of this rule is punished with fines ranging from 15 euros to 5 thousand euros, which is different in 16 countries, but in some it does not apply.
It is recommended that masks be used in public transportation and during purchases”, Merkel said on April 15th. But as the measures eased, many people flocked to the streets and squares after a week's stalemate due to pandemic. This situation prompted Merkel to warn you that Germany risks destroying what it has done so far to be protected by Covis-19. Merkel said she fully supports easing the restrictions, but expressed concern about implementing the rules.
Germany has a decentralised system and the federal government cannot force the bodies to make mandatory measures. However, many washes made their own decision.
In Berlin, the measures are softer, the fines do not apply, while people are allowed to travel by buses or subways even without wearing masks. Bavaria, meanwhile, which is the most hit region by the pandemic, has stricter measures, with fines ranging from 150 euros to 5 thousand euros to shop owners not providing masks for their staff.
In a difficult global situation to secure masks, the German government has managed to secure them not only for medical staff but also for general use. The largest cargo transport plane in the world, Antonov AN-225, landed at Leipzig Airport on Monday with a load of 10 million masks coming from China. In the coming days, another 15 million masks are expected.
