More than 100 different figures from the academic and political world in Europe and Australia have signed an open letter that criticises the role of the Chinese government in global pandemic.
It says the current crisis involving the world has been caused by the regime, which a large part of the Chinese government has tolerated and supported for decades, writes the “The Guardian”.
We should never forget that China's Chernobyl was a self-inflicted wound”, this letter says.
China has repeatedly faced controversy and scepticism over the measures it has taken against the virus, especially because of limiting information on the beginning of the spread of the disease and punishment of health workers who warned colleagues of the risk since December last year.
