Do you often find that when you hear the wake-up call, you turn it off, turn around and keep sleeping? If so, it is not your fault. We're not programmed to start working before 10:00 in the morning...

Start work after 10:00 in the morning? It is at present utopia, but in the future it must be reality to increase productivity and well-being. A recent study by Professor Paul Kelley, associate researcher at Oxford University, the Institute of Neuroscence, about the rhythms of Kicardia and sleep shows this.

His call is important and provocative. Schools and many companies need to move on starting hours to respect and work at the biological rates of students and employees.

This is a matter of sleep deprivation, when we are forced to rise under a certain and not natural alarm, explains Kelley in an interview for The Guardian. Loss of sleep hours also have different effects on health research show that sleep deprivation is linked to diabetes, depression, obesity, and a weaker immune system.

In his study, he found that for children about 10 years of age, the biological clock was about 6:30 a.m., for teenagers about 16, the biological clock is about 8:00 a.m., while for 18-year-olds, you might think of as sleeps and lazy, actually the hour for biological wake-up is about 9:00 a.m. It is easy to see how early school hours work for children about 10 years of age, but not for teenagers 16, and 18. For teenagers or adults, it would make more sense to start school day at 10:00 or perhaps later.

“Zilja at 7: 00 p.m. for teenagers, points out Kelley, is equivalent to starting school at 4:30 for a 50-year-old teacher”.

Those who support the thesis that it would suffice to speak early in the evening to get up relaxed and renewed the next day at 7:00, Kelley replied that it is not that simple.

The body's natural rhythm is controlled by a particular kind of light”.

Kelley says our work day should be flexible, respecting our natural rhythms. Describing the average loss of hours of sleep every night according to various ages, Professor Kelley explains that “between the ages of 14 and 24, this corresponds to more than two hours. For those between the ages of 24 and 35, it is about an hour and a half”.

It stands immediately that 9:17 a.m. time would not be consulted by most people and placed by executives over 50 separate. Alternative times would be a solution. In other words, those who are more than 50 years old would have to start work at 8:00 a.m., those under the age of 35 at 10:00, and students and those who work and study at the same time could be present at 11: 00 p.m.?

Kelley thinks the synchronized times could have a lot more positive consequences, would bring more productivity but also a good mood to people. And by referring to the effects on health, we would have fewer sick people and more happy workers and productive”.

By extending the prospect, there would most likely be fewer road accidents and drivers would be more careful, and traffic would be reduced above all in peak hours. In other words, a better way to start on the day of work “that would benefit all, especially families”.
