After meeting with the Franco-German delegation, with Jan Hecker, German Chancellor Angela Merkel's adviser, respectively, and Emmanuel Bonne, adviser to French President Emmanuel Macron, the country's President Hashim Thaci, said this meeting was completely common and without any concrete stance on any issue in turn, writes Periskopi.
Thaci said Merkel and Macroni's envoys have not even opened the subject of visa liberalism for Kosovo, which he expressed very disappointed.
Unfortunately, even today, nothing was heard about visa liberalisation for Kosovo, even if I did not open it as a topic, nor would it be raised to be discussed. And this is extremely disappointing, when five years ago the EU was willing to make the decision on visa liberalisation for Kosovo, this EU's non-unitities, this controversial stance, and now punishment for Kosovo is unfair, on the level of strategic and political current”, Thaci said.
The president said he has made clear to the EU that its involvement in Kosovo- Serbia could happen after visa liberalisation. According to Thaci, the EU is unprepared in this regard.
My “position was very clear, first the EU must issue the decision on visa liberalisation and then think whether it has capacities, space. Vision and leadership to push ahead the dialogue on Kosovo-Serbia normalisation. From what I see today the EU is unprepared for the second phase, while it has thought elegantly to get past the visa liberalism issue and move to the next phase”, Thaci said. /Periscopi/
