US Foreign Affairs Committee urges Kosovo to liberalise visas

“Congratulations on Albania and Northern Macedonia for the EU's decision to launch talks. Even in this difficult time, it is good for the EU to keep its promises to start the membership process with our Balkan partners”.
However, the EU must also keep its promise for Kosovo to offer visa liberalisation. Kosovo has met all conditions and deserves to be treated the same as its neighbours”, says a Twitter post of the Foreign Affairs Committee, which is chaired by Congresswoman Eliot Engel.
Comments come at a time when the whole world is facing the pandemic of COVID-19 disease caused by a new coronary.
On 24 March, the EU's Council for Internal Affairs approved the opening of talks on EU membership in Tirana and Skopje.
Kosovo is currently the only country in the region whose citizens cannot travel visa-free to the EU Schengen Zone.
