Coronavirus, AUV does not prohibit import of food products from Italy

However, the same is not true in food products. So far by the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) has made only one stop to import bee food and bees from China.

He did so in an interview for Online Economy, AUV spokesman Lamir Thaci, according to which this was the only food product imported from China, the site where the deadly virus erupted.

We've only undertaken a ban on the importation of bees and bees' meals from China so far, and we're also in full co-ordination with local authorities to act on all the needs that are presented so that we can intervene through the inspectors that we have, the Sanitarian and veterinarian inspectorate, and we're also in touch with the World Health Organization, the World Food Organization, the European Food Authority and other organisations that send timely notices after time to call on developments that occur around this body.

“ ... Any step or decision that will be taken by any international authority will automatically become applicable even in our country, and we as authority are prepared that measures which are required to be taken by us, we are willing to apply them only to prevent the spread of this virus in our country”, Thaci stressed.

In addition to China, Italy is the country with the most affected by Coronavirus. However, Thaci says food imports from this country have not been banned, because so far it has not been proven that the virus could spread through food.

“We have different products, we have wide ranges of products imported from all countries in the European Union, but also from Italy and other countries in the region, and the development of food products trade is developing as it used to be, since we don't have any decisions or measures that are undertaken under the global organisations”.

Of all the research that has been conducted by the world authorities through their research mechanisms so far has not resulted in any research that has revealed that the disease or the virus can be transported by food, and based on it there is still no stop from any other country, and the whole food and products trade is developing normally as it was before”

He says that if it proves that the virus is spread even through food, then they will apply any prohibitions required.

In case we have new developments or research on any particular product, or any other subject that falls into our control mandate, we are willing to act on the line or open with other authorities and any amount of ban that is required we are willing to implement”, he said.

Thaci told EO that from the moment the corruption of the coronary spread, they are in full co-ordination with local and international authorities, above all for the actions they should take.

“We are part of the National Council for Combating This Disease, have sent the nominal by the Food and Veterinary Agency and all the actions required on our part, we are willing to take and have a professionality and enjoy a good practice of taking steps when we have cases of outbreaks of diseases”, he indicated.

In Italy, 168 people have died as a result of the coronary.

The total number of cases that have fatalised in this country has already reached 631, while the number of affected is about 9,000.

The virus is spreading rapidly to other countries as well.

In Serbia, three new corruption cases have been presented.

Croatia has reported on the 15th patient affected. There are 10 cases in Albania, and in Macedonia 7.

Kosovo, Montenegro and Turkey are the only countries in Europe that have not reported anyone affected.
