On the occasion of the March 8th issue of International Women's Day, the Kosovo Security Force has held a conference on the subject “The woman's empowerment in institutions and her role in developing the state”, where the women's greatest support and empowerment were required, as with their adequate representation, institutions will be more powerful.

Among the many women of the two security institutions was Kosovo Parliament Speaker Vjosa Osmani, who said there is no profession in which women cannot shine.

There's no profession in which women can't shine, you witness it in the security field, other girls, like Majlinda, Distria, testify in the sports field and other sciences in which they've had steroids for a long time. But more and more women are beating and shining”, she said.

But in addition, chief speaker Osmani said women's empowerment is still needed.

According to her, representation in institutions currently is better, but not enough.

For this, it also called for strengthening mechanisms to protect against domestic violence.

A major challenge we have to deal with is to build mechanisms to protect women from domestic violence cases. One of the first letters I received, once I take office, is to have a budget line for assistance and housing. We need to make sure that the role of the woman in society today becomes a role not only to be done in terms of appearance, but her voice is decommining in decision-making”, she said.

The Lieutenant Colonel in the KSF, Remzie Zeqiraj, said that women's involvement in the KSF has been the beginnings since the last war in Kosovo, where they have broken the prejudices of time. While stressing that with the support of institutions, they have now managed to be represented worthy of office, but called for continued support.

The trip for women in Kosovo is the same as the establishment of the Kosovo Army since the first day even today. Government of the country, F The SK, NATO has invested a lot of effort, the establishment and development for each member, and in particular for military women... The right to have equal opportunities for men and women is based on the Kosovo Constitution as the highest legal document. It should be appreciated and appreciated that our military men have had their support in their families. Supporting women is necessary at all times. The total number of women is 299 percentaged at 10.80 per cent. We're over the 10 percent quota. With this number we have shown that we are on the move with many countries in the region, but also NATO countries”, she said.

The other lieutenant colonel, but in the Kosovo Police, Zilfije Krasniqi, said that with the adequate representation of women, all institutions will be more powerful.

Now female recruiting in the police has become common. Police now have 1555 women, or 12.7 per cent. They employ in different sectors. Kosovo as a state is leaders in representation of women in all its structures. Police women besides working in many sectors also hold leadership positions”, she said.

Support for women also asked US Embassy representative in Pristina Deb MacLEan.
