US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo has congratulated Kosovo citizens on the 12th anniversary of the declaration of independence.
Pompeo writes in congratulations that the two countries have enjoyed a relationship of common values, and that Kosovo's independence remains key to the security and stability of the Western Balkans.
Also, the wish notes that the US supports Kosovo on the path towards integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions.
The complete wish of Secretary Pompeii:
On behalf of the people and government of the United States, I wish Kosovo independence day.
For more than a decade, our two countries have enjoyed a relationship based on common values.
Kosovo's sovereignty and independence remain key to the security and stability of the Western Balkans.
The United States supports Kosovo on the path towards integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions and will continue to work on supporting the law, fighting corruption and increasing economic prosperity for all Kosovo citizens.
After the recent elections and forming of government, Kosovo has a new opportunity to meet its full potential, both for its citizens and for relations with neighbouring countries.
We have been encouraged by recent events, which show a move towards facilitating investments, tourism, trade and human relations with Serbia, which will increase the basis for further progress in normalising future relations.
We express our heartfelt congratulations to the people of Kosovo and expect to build on the energy of the moment in the coming weeks and months.
