US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo congratulated Serbia on Independence Day today through a letter citing the normalisation of relations with Kosovo.
The UN “think highly of relations with Serbia and have in vision a democratic, economically developed Serbia that is at peace with its neighbours and fully integrated into Europe”, the statement said.
Pompeo also in this letter has said the US is committed to supporting Serbs on their road to EU accession, Klan Kosova reports.
“We are encouraged by recent events that are an indication of steps towards facilitating investments, tourism and trade ties with Kosovo. We are optimistic that Serbia and Kosovo will make further progress in normalising relations in the near future”.
The United States and Serbia have a long history of co-operation and mutual commitment. Our countries have stood side by side in both world wars, and the United States has long supported Serbia's European integration”.
He stated that a lot of prominent North Americans of Serbian origin have made an important contribution not only to American society, but to the world and they continue to do so today”.
“We believe that next year will provide opportunities to further strengthen Serbia-United States ties and start an exciting new phase of our friendship”, writes Serbian medium “Beta”.
