Kosovo women returning from Syria confess tortures experienced there

Kosovo police say around 100 Kosovars are still in the conflict area in Syria and Iraq, while security experts say local institutions should be attentive, as they say there are risks from ideology. And a number of them had returned to Kosovo last year from those areas, [...]
And a number of them had returned last year to Kosovo from those areas, from state bodies.
The portal “Front Online” brings confessions of women who experienced during the war in Syria by members of terrorist organisations, part of which were with their families.
Accompanied by her husband and three children, Naxhije Hasani, prepared to leave for Turkey.
The poor economic situation and the husband's <x0-phones” for a better life led the 34-year-old to obey him.
But the road to Turkey, Najiye, became anxious.
In fact, without her knowledge, Naji, accompanied by three children and her husband had gone to Syria.
The path they had taken could be fatal.
And there, without her will, Najia was assigned to stay for four years.
In Syria she also had a baby.
Standing in war hearth made him experience horror and trauma.
Najija, who comes from a village in Kline, along with 31 other women returning from war grounds, was ending this nightmare in April 2019 when they returned to Kosovo.
Their condition was extremely heavy, as soon as two of the 32 women were taken directly to the hospital.
Gashi: Najia was too weak, shy, and unable to speak
The painful story of Najeja personalises the lawyer who defended her, Fehmije Gashi-Bytyqi.
She relates what condition she had first met her client, Najien.
When she came to Kosovo, she was very weak, very shy, barely speaking a word, a dryer. I've noticed in all the moments that I've met her, she's improved in health, she's released in communication, she's been then more reasonable with the situation that's going on with her and the rest of the women. Even in judgment when it came, I've had quite a challenge, because it's only been with education four years old, and I've professionally positioned it, I've worked with it. When I explained to him that admitting guilt is a comforting circumstance for him. She forgave my faith, she admits, she's among the first women to receive her sentence. Perhaps she also served as a model for other women, on parole”, says lawyer Gashi-Bytyqi.
Mate fraud set off for Turkey and ended up in Syria
Lawyer Gashi shows that Najeja had confessed to her about how her husband had committed “to her, telling her they are going for a better life in Turkey.
He says Najia has repented of his work and admitted the guilt he was sentenced to two years on bail.
My “Klient has gone through Pristina Airport. Her husband has told her that we are going all the way to Turkey to live a little better, because even in Kosovo they have been with a poor economic situation. It has been there since 2015 until April 2019. Under poor conditions, but at one point they're in some way, then especially in the last period, when they lived in camps managed by the Kurds, there has been their worst situation. Because, in the group of 32 women when they returned to Kosovo, two of them went directly to the hospital. I didn't mean to infiltrate her private part. She's now beginning to resocialize, her children are starting to go to school. At every meeting I had with him, communication with him came and grew, because he had very heavy communication at first”, Gashi-Bytyqi says.
Najeja's husband willing to return to Kosovo, convinced that war was a false cause
Lawyer Bytyqi says she will never forget this case, and will remain special in her life.
It shows that Najje's husband is still in Syria and is willing to return to Kosovo, as he is convinced that the journey to fight with terrorist groups like I The SIS and Al Qaida have been the false cause, while leaders of the latter are hiding in comfort places while they go to the front lines to fight.
But the lawyer has touched the most that one of Najiye's children has special needs.
My client's case will always remain a special case, because some way he gets familiar with that person. My client has been very cautious, of course even with my advice. And with all the phases of the procedure, with my proposal, he is quietly protected, because he has a husband in Syria, and according to her, he is willing to return. I don't know if he's free or imprisoned. And because I didn't complicate her situation, I preferred that she be protected in silence. No matter how they got there, from their educational level, she convinced me she was religiously educated, and she never returned her husband's orders. They convinced them”, she says.
Zeka: Kosovo under obligation to return Kosovars from Syria
And, like Najea, they have experienced and are experiencing the citizens of many of Kosovo.
Some have returned to Kosovo and have been repatriated, and some are still staying in conflict areas.
For planning the return of another group from Syria, Front Online reported days ago.
Former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs(MPB), Izmi Zeka, was asked by “Front Online” concerning information that the state of Kosovo is preparing for the return of a group of Kosovars found in Syria.
Zeka has not provided information on the matter until she says it is up to Kosovars to return from Syria.
You know the public statements of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, there are people who have gone to Syria, we have an obligation to ensure those who return, this is an internal issue of internal state discussion, but also other countries, we as institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are dealing with this issue. For other details you will be informed in time, as the road to Syria is a dead end where going there conflicts with all international conventions”, he said.
Ibishi: Institutions Pay Attention, Risks Idology
In April last year, 110 Kosovo citizens, including 32 women, 74 children and four fighters have returned from Syria to Kosovo.
Returners to Kosovo have travelled to Istanbul, where through the Republic of Turkey entered the Islamic state of Syria in order to join the terrorist organisation I SIS.
Viewed from another perspective, returnees from conflict zones in Syria could pose permanent risks to citizens and the country. The danger lies in the ideology taken at war grounds.
For the security expert, Nuredin Ibishin, Kosovo is endangered by the spread of the ideology of returnees through alternative routes.
Kosovo's limited capacity makes it much more fragile for returning persons to re-indict themselves or to reintegration into society, for reasons as we see them, they are not giving up their appearance, ideology, but not the influence they have on the social circle. I see the constant danger.”, Ibishi said.
In addition, he says Kosovo institutions should be attentive to reducing the indoctrination of these persons by rehabilitateing them in society.
Kosovo's “Institutions should be very attentive in a sense to reduce the indoctrination of these layers, and normal even rehabilitation of them in society. We're actually taking risks because they're continuing with that ideology and their clothes and their living system. This shows that they are supporters of the ideological one. It would be dangerous”, he stressed.
According to the security expert, for the prevention and fighting of religious extremism, the country's responsible bodies still do not have enough security capacities both financially and financially.
Hayzer: Terror prevails there, women and girls were raped
The participation in these wars is contrary to the fundamental principles of Islamic Islam”, says Imam Zuhdi Hayzer of the European Centre for Antiterrorism and Intelligence Studies in Germany ♫ Netherlands.
Hayzer explains that the killing of Muslims between themselves, the violation of women, and similar phenomena are contrary to the Islamic religion for which these participants are called into conflict areas.
There is no doubt that it is contrary to the fundamental Islamic principles, because there have been murdered Muslim people among themselves, there have been sectarian wars, it has become terror. There has been violation of women and girls, and what is not, everything has been done in opposition to Islam, not a single link to Islamic principles, has been quoted as being an imam by Peja.
The return of persons from war centres to Hayzer is continuing to pose a threat to the security of Kosovo citizens.
“Kosovo is in danger, false ideology risks security in the country”
According to imam, activities of persons with Wahhabi ideology are continuing to develop in Kosovo.
One of the methods in circulation, he says, is the publication of the ultraracial - content books that, according to the imam, spread of this ideology, clearly endangers the country's security.
There is no doubt that there is even more danger than before because activities are under way, but the people are being deceived that there is no activity until a person with Wahhabi ideology finances and publishs 15 copies in a book of a terrorist author and the book is distributed for free. The danger is great because that book is being circulated and the danger is that the person publishing it is unemployed by 150,000 copies, Hayzer noted.
He considers that the spread of such ideas can also have great consequences, as those involved in groups trained to kill people believe they are not performing any criminal acts.
There is no doubt that the danger is, and according to intelligent service connoisseurs, the greatest risk is by “The lone wolf” but also by those who have returned because: They are influenced by radical group ideas. They believe that they are the victorious sect. They believe that the resurrection of potassium is their duty, they believe that the money, blood and morality of those who disagree with them are permitted to them. They live in religious and judicial isolation. They are trained to kill and spread hatred and brutality, they have the ability to produce a multitude of people they trust. Returners from the conflict site do not believe they committed a criminal offence”, Hayzer said.
Compared to other European countries, Hayzer claims that Kosovo institutions so far have not taken any adequate and serious measures for Syria returnees.
The grenades came upon us, experienced torture and unwanted marriages
Through a confession, under the condition of anonymity, a 43-year-old woman from Pristina has confessed to the torture and horror she has experienced in Syria, all because of her husband's fraud.
It reflects how he was deceived into a better life, which actually proved to be a real hell.
She is repentant because she was forced to marry the big girl there without her consent.
When I came to Kosovo with my children, I, as a 42-year-old, was being traumatic. All I've been talking about is war and the hard life I've had there in the camps in Syria. It's been a very serious situation, we've been in danger at any moment. The grenades every moment put us above our heads. I had no idea we had to return to Kosovo, I went to UNHCR and they took us directly and brought us”, she relates.
Her family had announced it shortly before leaving for Syria.
Regarding her decision, she says that she was pressured by her husband's pressure that she says she does not want to talk about.
My husband went to Syria two years ago. He has threatened me and pressured me to join my four children in joining him in the war grounds. In 2015, the day I traveled through Turkey to Syria, I have announced to my family that I will go to Syria with my three daughters and son. One of the girls, now 23 years old, has been married during her stay in the camps in Syria with an Albanian from Skopje and her husband is unknown to whether he is dead or alive”, she relates further.
My daughter and I removed the burka after they returned disappointed by Syria
It shows that after returning from Syria, he decided to remove the burka with his older daughter.
The problem, however, lies with her second daughter, who as a result of this mistake to take the road to Syria, now faces aggressiveness and poor behavior.
I've got my big girl and I've got my wife off. The second girl, aged 20, continues to hold the burken and often has aggressive behavior”, she says.
In her account of Front Online, this woman still mentions the relationship with someone in Syria who keeps them informed of their relatives, but despite insistence it does not indicate who they communicate with.
We didn't talk directly to them, but someone from there tells us that they're alive”, the woman says.
About 100 Kosovo citizens find in Iraq, Syria
Kosovo police, respectively, have been committed to collecting information concerning persons who have been in war zones in Syria and Iraq through investigations and other operational routes.
In an answer to Front Online, police say that currently in the conflict zone in Syria and Iraq are about 100 Kosovars.
“Based on data owned by the Directorate Against Terrorism, currently in the conflict zone in Syria and Iraq are about 100 people from Kosovo, or born in the conflict area of at least one Kosovo parent, said in their response.
According to police, the ongoing Antiterrorism Directorate collects information and evidence for persons suspected of their participation in terrorist organisations.
Traumas taken in Syria Cause Many Years
The psychological situation of participants in armed conflicts outside Kosovo's territory is considered to be with serious consequences.
For psychologist Besnik Pecin, children, and adults who have been exposed to conflict zones, they will be compared to the traumas they have received from there for a long time.
He tells us that events that such ones have experienced at war grounds can be manifested further by bad conduct that can have great consequences.
The “Children or adults who have been exposed to war grounds are people who are actually in a state of stress, have heavy loads and have serious elements of trauma. They need more support than they need to maintain their mental health. There is a huge danger that the things and behaviors that they have seen there, as manifested here, and there may be consequences then”, Peci stressed.
He views the right mental - health services as a necessity.
The professional treatment such ones must receive may take a long time.
A person with these traumas is usually treated during 12 sessions, but there are times when it can go on even more, it happens with years to be treated because it doesn't go that easy. It depends on the approach that the therapist uses to treat such a case. Treatment can take time from 12 sessions until”, Peci said.
Otherwise, after the great defeat of I terrorist group The SIS, leaders of the other dark organisation Al Qaida are constantly sending messages of unity and continuity.
International anti-terrorism experts have estimated that the leaders of these terrorist organisations are more vulnerable than ever, contractor and want constant terror, since, as they have said, they cannot live in peace.
