In the document provided by the newspaper Express, the government has earmarked 393 thousand and 474 euros for holding the Podujevo chairmanial elections, 100,000 euros less than the CEC had demanded.
The CEC had asked the Kosovo government to allocate 491 thousand euros for two rounders in this election.
The minister, Besnik Bislimi, at the government meeting, called the central Election Commission's request to split from the state budget about 116 thousand euros for pay and hire of commissioners who will participate in the extraordinary elections in Podujevo.
However, Deputy Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti said in response to Bislim, the government must take care not to provide qualifications, which may be unfounded.
Let's take care of ourselves as a government so that we never give qualifications that may be our personal beliefs but may be groundless. You have a duty, you have to make sure that every cent divided for the CEC is spent according to the regulation, you have to take care of how these tools are being spent”, Hoti said.
The decision reportedly says the separate means under this decision could only be used for organising extraordinary elections in Podujevo in the category of goods and services and municipal spending and unspented means must be returned to the Kosovo budget.
