Selimi shows how Kosovo will pay the lawyers of former KLA members in The Hague

Justice Minister Selim Selim Selimi has said that Kosovo is obliged to protect the purity of the KLA, so this should be done even through the protection fee of attorneys of specialised chamber indictees. Until in the past the defence was paid by the sympathetics, Selimi says Kosovo is now the most [...] state.
Until in the past the defence was paid by the sympathetics, Selimi says Kosovo is now stronger state and must do so on its own.
Our “State is built on those KLA values and principles, so we have to protect those values and that war institutionally. So it has become that law that imposes on me and the Ministry of Justice to help all potential indictees from the Special Chambers”.
Three administrative guidelines have emerged from this law regulating the way the accused are protected by the Special, and Selimi says that on the basis of the law he has accepted several requests from the defence, which will be paid in three parameters.
We're going to look at the Kosovo Bar Association tariffs, look at the Netherlands Lawyers' Oda tariffs, and we're going to look at the state attorneys' oda fees from where the lawyer comes from. These three parameters will be sufficient to approve or reject the request of these lawyers. This will be done by a commission consisting of civil servants who have passed the process of AKI verification and who have the state letter to work on those requests”.
Selimi in Info Magazine has said that as a political appointer it is better for him not to get involved in lawyers' issues and these payments, and that he considers the professional commission to do the job.
For all current indictees and potential, 20m euros have been allocated.
Meanwhile, for new foundations-building initiatives for former KLA participants being charged in The Hague, Selimi has said that Kosovo fulfills its obligation, but if one wants to be protected by its own money or foundations can do so.
Also, to establish the Institute for Investigation of War Crimes, Selimi said it is necessary and very important for future generations, so he added that he is happy that he is voted in by the government cabinet.
