“Press will be felt soon in Serbia, Biden will ask us to recognise Kosovo as an independent state”

From the beginning, the new US administration warned a more active and dominant attitude towards the Balkans, mainly with the return of Madeleine Albright to the political scene, as shown by its first messages against Serbia. Those familiar with the rules on which international politics are based say of the Serbian portal Nova.rs that a more pronounced pressure awaits Serbia in the final recognition of Kosovo's independence and, if possible, severing relations with Russia and China.
For those who did not understand what awaited Serbia, for those who claimed there would be no change in US policy to Serbia regarding what was practiced by Donald Trump, a clear message came from Biden himself, who turned former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright into the scene.
General, Albright, along with political situation expert in the Western Balkans, Daniel Serwer, is responsible, on behalf of the Biden-Haris administration, to make recommendations for the future of American politics in the Balkans, writes “Nova.rs”
This medium writes that “Alright is remembered by the public in Serbia as the biggest supporter of bombings and the most noisy advocate of democracy Tomahawk, which called us disgusting Serbs who practically cut off negotiations in Rambouille and promised Albanians everything they want.
Determine Agent
Speaking of the return of Albright and the new US administration, the head of the Centre for Foreign Policy and professor at the Belgrade Faculty of Political Sciences, Dragan Djukanovic, says:
Albright's influence on any American democratic administration has been high. Now it seems to expect additional commitment. It is well aware of the Balkan situation and will be able to significantly influence the formation of US policy in the Balkans”, Djukanovic says.
He adds that the United States has their own definite agenda, which it did not change even under Trump's management.
“Their perception of Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans in general is clear. Here is just one question of how they will apply what is planned for them in the Western Balkans”.
Pressure Will soon Feel in Serbia
Serbian diplomat Zoran Milivojevic has a similar opinion.
The key thing is to recognise Kosovo's independence, and the only question is which methodology will be applied to this case. The Trump administration was brought in another way, this case was not resolved through the State Department as was the case before, but Trump did it directly through the White House and in an election campaign. An economic mechanism was used, manifested in the Washington agreement, which yielded results and is very pragmatic. When it comes to the new administration, it is clear that it is returning to the continuation of previous ones, particularly Obama”, Milivojevic declares.
The goal, he says, is to turn America into the number one global power position.
“Putting work back into the hands of the State Department and then co-ordinating the US with Brussels around the Western Balkans means more or less American pressure, depending on the assessment of the situation. This, in addition to recognising Kosovo's independence, includes stopping the influence of Russia and China in the Balkans. In any case, a more active and dynamic relationship between the United States, Serbia and the Balkans awaits us. We'll be feeling it real soon.
