The United Kingdom began vaccinating the population against Avid-19 this week. Meanwhile, social networking platforms were filled with news about an alarming title claiming to be Pfizer vaccine - BioNTech can cause infertility in women.
But experts have claimed these claims are groundless. “It's a myth, it's not true, there is no evidence that supports their perception”, said Saad Omer, a vaccine expert at Yale University.
This week, the Food and Barnat Administration said the vaccine could protect people against developing COVID-19 without causing serious side effects. Pfizer vaccine has received the green light in Britain and Canada.
News about infertility was prompted by an article published by a blog called “Health and Money News”, which wrongly claimed Pfizer vaccine contained a protein that plays a crucial role in developing the placenta, causing infertility.
Unfounded claims were taken by a petition written by Michael Yeadon, a retired British doctor and former Pfizer employee who has previously been criticised for his misconceptions about the Coronavirus.
