Merkel stressed her understanding of the importance of these celebrations for Turkish culture.
“Dasms are great celebrations where young Turks come along with family and friends to have fun”, Merkel said in an interview on radio Metropol FM on Monday evening, adding “that it is effectively impossible to have a pleasant ceremony by respecting the necessary precautionary measures”.
More than 4 million Turkish immigrants live in Germany.
