Next week, exactly December 10th, a meeting is expected to be held between Kosovo's chief delegations and Serbia's in dialogue, which the European Union is mediating.
This has been confirmed in Brussels on Friday by Peter Stano, spokesperson for foreign policy and security in the EU.
I can confirm that the idea exists next week that the meeting at the level of chief negotiators in Brussels” will be held, Stano has said, not wanting to provide further details about that meeting and topics that could eventually be discussed in it. Stano, this refusal to give details, argued that “is not a practice that many days before the meeting it will publicize the item”.
It has been nearly three months since there were no high-level meetings between Kosovo and Serbia. Meanwhile, at the level of delegation chiefs for dialogue the last meeting was held on November 29th in Brussels, when the parties had discussed financial and property claims between them, Rel reports.
In the EU, they continue to state that the goal of dialogue is to reach an comprehensive agreement through which all open issues between the sides would be resolved. According to EU Special Envoy for Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak himself, all agreements on specific topics will be part of the comprehensive agreement.
Even though Lajcak and EU High Representative Josep Borrell have confirmed that dialogue is going well, diplomats in the EU acknowledge that it has significantly slowed down, and for this, the main cause is looking at the domestic political situation in Kosovo.
