A host of European leaders are vetoing themselves after French President Emmanuel Macron came up positive for Coddy-19.
Macron, 42, will be self-insulated for seven days while working in a distance, Elysée Palace said in a statement.
The French president attended a number of high profile events in recent days, including an EU summit.
After his diagnosis, several other European leaders, including the Spanish prime minister, said they would be isolated.
“The president of the Republic has been positively diagnosed for Covid-19 today,” said Elysée on Thursday morning. The diagnosis was made after a “test conducted at the beginning of symptoms of pre”, the statement added.
French President Brigitte Macron's wife, who is 67, has identified herself, but there are no symptoms.
It is not yet known how Macro was infected with the virus, but his office said he was identifying any recent close contact he had.
On Tuesday, Macron hosted French Parliament leaders, members of the Intergovernmental Group O on Monday ECD.
Last week he, along with almost every other EU leader, attended a summit in Brussels.
Who else needs self-sympathic?
Among those who have to go on their own are European Council chief Charles Michel, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and O Secretary General ECD Angel Gurria, after all they met with President Macron this week.
Sanchez has proved negative, but, like Macron, he's going to work away from quarantine.
Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, 59, has cancelled all official trips and has been isolated pending test results, following a working lunch in Paris with President Macron on Wednesday.
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel have also been identified after contact with the French president.
Irish Prime Minister Michel Martin has emerged the negative for COVID-19 but will limit his contacts, a spokesman said, the BBC reports.
French Prime Minister Jean Castex, 55, and Parliament Speaker Richard Ferrand, 58, have also identified themselves, confirming their offices.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel wore a mask at the summit and tested negatively for the virus Tuesday, German officials said after hearing news about President Macron.
A French presidential spokeswoman confirmed that all of Macro's upcoming trips, including a planned visit to Lebanon on 22 December, had been cancelled.
