The next week is expected to find Kosovo with new measures against corruption. Although not yet disclosed what they will be, disagreements have emerged within the ruling coalition as regards the release or austerity of the measures.
Enhancing the circulation and flow of people on the eve of end-of-year holidays will apparently force the Kosovo government to tighten even more measures against COVID-19. That is what Prime Minister Hoti warned him today by means of a Facebook post, writes news.net.
Hoti cited the trend of measures taken in the region and the EU, and even that of some countries that have been completely closed. In this context, Hoti said new measures have been proposed.
Now, on the eve of the holidays, we are faced with a risk of spreading infection because of the great movement of citizens taking place on holiday time. We are all seeing the growing trend in the EU and the region, where some countries are completely closed. This means that for a few weeks even we will grow in cases. Therefore, with IKSHP proposals and in broad consultation, the minister of health will soon propose additional measures. The measures will also be taken into consultation with municipalities, business associations, different groups, as well as international partners and organisations that are helping us manage the situation. From the summer months, we are conducting weekly consultations with international partners and relevant organisations, where we value the situation every Friday and receive recommendations from them”, Hoti wrote.
But such an attitude does not have the main coalition partner, AAK. The chairman of this subject, Ramush Haradinaj today, cited the overall removal of the movement's schedule, as free circulation should be possible for exiles who have mastered Kosovo.
End-of-year parties revive life in Kosovo, our families and the country's economy as well. Common is happening this year, regardless of infertile circumstances, as well as difficult historical circumstances for Albanians, thousands of fellow countrymen are heading for Kosovo. I prefer the country's institutions to remove the driving stop, at least until after the holidays. This would enable the free circulation of our brothers and sisters living abroad who are struggling to reach their homes”, Haradinaj wrote.
That there will be no release of the measures, Health Minister Andmendi Zemaj confirmed yesterday at a news conference.
The latter, after reconfirming that new measures would take effect next week, said their release would not be available. He added that the new measures will apply to the entire territory of Kosovo, and not only to municipalities.
“Freedom of measures there will be no, we'll see somewhere where there will be tribulation so there won't be collections of people”, Zemaj said.
And this is not the first time that between the AAK and the LDK had differed over positions on new measures against the spread of COVIDD-19.
It was similar during the summer months, when talking about closing the border with Albania, or the mandatory presentation of the PCR test.
Even in November, the AAK was firmly opposed to a total closure, mentioned at the time as option by Avdullah Hoti.
Meanwhile, the holiday season has brought to Kosovo thousands of exiles who drive their cars to their homeland.
Also, only today have dozens of flights to Kosovo been reported.
