The congress aims to include the package in a $1.4 trillion spending bill, which will finance the government by September 2021. Mitch McConnell said: “Help is coming. After consultations with relevant commissions, the four leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives finalised an agreement. There will be another rescue package for the American people, which will not be alone in the fight against the Coronavirus”.
House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the minority leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, both Democrats, said the package would enable life funds to save citizens' lives, while the spread of the virus accelerates.
The package is the second largest economic incentive in US history, after the $3.3 trillion approved in March. It envisions $600 direct payments for individuals, increasing unemployment payments by $300 a week, and support of $300 billion for small businesses, distribution of vaccines, and so forth.
The agreement was reached amid the escalation of pandemic in the United States, where more than 214 thousand people are infected on average every day. Over 316 thousand Americans have lost their lives from Coronavirus so far.
