Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq has demanded that Tanja Fajon be excluded from the dialogue between the Serbian position and opposition.
Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, is allegedly setting a clear condition for the European Parliament on dialogue between the government and the Serbian opposition.
As writes “Danas.rs”, broadcasts news.net, Vuciq allegedly called on the EP for the rapporteur for the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo in the European Parliament, Tanja Fajon, which is part of the European Parliament's Committee for Stabilisation and Association of Serbia, to leave the process of political dialogue in Belgrade.
But the same medium writes that Vuciki's claim has been impossible to verify because of the holiday season, but “Danas.rs”, calling to its sources, writes that the European Parliament has rejected that request of Vucinic.
According to this Serbian media medium, Vucic decided the condition to exclude Tanja Fajon from dialogue, because he was disappointed with her participation in the previous round of talks, mainly due to the criticism Fajon had of parliamentary elections and in particular local ones in June of this year.
Fajon has closely followed the political situation in Serbia during the elections, respectively, as it has been part of the European Parliament's Committee for Stabilisation and Association of Serbia and the EU.
Fajon is expected to be back on the European negotiating team as a representative of the Socialists and Democrats in the EP, along with Vladimir Bilchik, the EP rapporteur for Serbia and a member of the ruling European People's Party.
If Fajon is eventually disfellowshipped because it hints he wants to deal with other Balkan countries, then its Socialist and Democrat parliamentary group would provide a new representative for dialogue on election conditions.
But political and integrating connoisseurs view it as the wrong approach and action. They said “Danas.rs”, that the government in Serbia does not have the capacity to establish such conditions, nor should it do so if it sincerely wants negotiations.
