A court in Turkey has pronounced eternal sentences on dozens of defendants in one of the biggest judgments related to the coup attempt of 2016.
Air Force pilots and army commanders were among the nearly 500 defendants charged with trying to oust Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan from power.
A total of 475 defendants were tried, while 365 of them are prisoners.
At least 25 former high-ranking military officials were pronounced life in serious sentences.
They allegedly led the plot from Akinci air base near Ankara.
Erdogan says US-based Muslim cleric Fetullah Gulen organised the plot. Gulen has denied any involvement in the coup effort.
The coup effort left 251 people dead and more than 2,000 wounded.
The trial began in August 2017 and charges include trying to kill President Erdogan and capture major state institutions.
