Scotland is the first country in the world to make products for free menstruation.
Scottish MPs unanimously adopted the Law on Products for Menstruations on Tuesday.
The BBC writes that it is now the legal duty of local authorities to make sure that free items such as tampons and sanitation are available for “wherever needs to be”.
The bill was introduced by Parliament member Monica Lennon. It has been campaigning to end period poverty since 2016.
She said it had become even more vital because of the coronary pandemic.
“Periodas do not stop for pandemics, and work to improve access to essential tampons and pecet has never been more important. She added”.
What is period poverty?
The poverty of periods is when low - income people cannot afford or have suitable period products.
With average periods lasting about five days, women can cost up to 8 pounds a month for tampons and pecetas. And many women try to afford costs.
