Kosovo is facing its worst health period last month since the COVID-19 pandemic show. Authorities say Kosovo hospitals are beginning to be tasked with patients seeking treatment.
Health Ministry spokesman Faik Hoti through Skype told the Voice of America that hospital infrastructure is very busy.
The epidemiological situation with regard to COVID-19 is in charge these days in Kosovo, as in the countries of the region and beyond, and what is the main focus of the Ministry of Health and other institutions is to engage as much capacity as possible so that the current hospital infrastructure will be able to provide services to any citizens who will need COVID-19. Based on the latest report from Kosovo's hospital service and University Clinic the last day we had 790 patients from whom 526 patients have been confirmed patients with COVID-19 who receive treatment like at KKUK and other hospitals in the country”, Hoti said.
Mr. Hoti says that statistics say ten percent of those affected usually require treatment in Kosovo hospitals. He says concern remains the number of people who are losing their lives on this virus and that the risk is all ages.
And what citizens need to be careful about is not ignoring the virus and not creating the idea that fatally with COVID-19 only the cases of those who are old or who have accompanying diseases because there have been even cases where people relatively young have lost their lives with COVID without having any other associated diseases”, Hoti said.
Kosovo marked on Friday 11 victims as a result of the Coronavirus, bringing the number of people who lost their lives from the effects of this virus to 885.
The National Institute of Public Health confirmed today 855 new cases of coronary affected in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of affected nearly 33,000. Up until now, nearly 20,000 people have been declared, while over 12,000 remain active.
