Historical: Government Reaches Agreements to Use Roads Crossing the Decani Monastery Area

With my mediation and the support of Italy's ambassador, Mr. Nicolaa Orlando, of KFOR Commander General Michele Ries, has reached agreement on design, construction and use of roads that pass through the Special Protection Zone of the Decani Monastery.

This agreement is the result of several months of discussions, but constructive and productive, between the Decani Community and representatives of the Orthodox Church at the Decani Monastery.

The permanent mechanization of Implementation and Supervision (Employment and Supervision Council) based on the Special Protection Areas Act (nr. 03/L-039) has approved the terms of this agreement and thus has been given green light to actions agreed on implementation.

I have been committed from the beginning to help find the best and most acceptable solution, which helps free movement of citizens, as guaranteed freedom, but also to respect and protect the religious and cultural heritage of the area.

With this agreement reached, it proves that the Republic of Kosovo is the country of equal beings whose freedoms and rights are respected and equally protected.
