Serbia's Parliament Speaker, Ivica Dacic, said it is good that Kosovo's Specialised Chambers, headquartered in The Hague, have started working.
Daciq spoke at a media conference in Belgrade, where he was asked about the act of specialised war crimes rooms against former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, former head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Kadri Veselin, the head of the Vetevendosje Movement Parliamentary Group, Rexhep Selimi, and former Kosovo Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasniqi.
The act was made public Thursday.
Daciq said the Specialised Chambers were founded by the need for an international investigation of crimes “committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army, not only against the Serbian people, but also against citizens of other nationalities, including Kosovo Albanians, so all who committed crimes must take responsibility”.
He added that “anti-Serb crimes in Kosovo have not been sanctioned so far”.
But, “has a long way from the indictment to decision”, Dacic said, stressing the need for witness protection.
Thaci, Veselin and Selimi have been transferred to the detention centre of Specialised Chambers in The Hague on November 5th, while Krasniqi has been transferred there the day before them.
The Specialised Chambers and Specialised Prosecutor's Office, also known as the Special Court, investigate the alleged crimes of members of the former Kosovo Liberation Army committed against ethnic minorities and political rivals from January 1998 to December 2000.
These alleged crimes are mentioned in a 2011 Council of Europe report, author of which is Swiss senator Dick Marty.
