A successful blow against the frauds of an international-pronged Callter operating from Kosovo. The gang deceived lonely pensioners with promises of victory in the tear, demanding certain fees.
The security authorities in Germany, led by Trier police together with the Kosovo police, have managed to strike an international action on a criminal gang operating from Kosovo and profiting millions of euros, lying to pensioners with promises of victory in the loto.
According to police in Ansbach, frauds spoke a clear German, but had grown up in Kosovo and Albania. The judicial process against these persons will likely take place in Kosovo. The goal is confiscating seized money and damaging victims, but according to police, this is not easy.
Police action took place in mid-November, police reported, according to data from the German news agency dpa on Friday (27.11). In Kosovo nine suspected persons were arrested between them and <x0-headed gang”, Trier's police reportedly also provided material evidence as well as assets. Members of the gang for years by a Kosovo Call-Center mostly called elderly and lonely people, writes the news agency, afp, referring to police data. They promised them victory in the tear of several hundred thousand euros. But to secure the money earned in the supposedly tear, criminals were looking, according to police, to fees such as transportation, insurance or cost to the swimmer.
False Phones to Build Trust
Through numerous calls, deceivers developed a trusting relationship with the damaged. For victims, fraud, according to police, was often associated with mental problems. A pensioner even lied with half a million euros. German police announce that there have been “human tragedy”, even persons who should declare private financial bankruptcy to authorities.
As the beginning of German investigations served the case of a 71-year-old woman from Idar-Oberstein and a 64-year-old man from Trier. The 71-year-old woman had paid 53,000 euros in total, in cash, with transfers or in the form of E-Cash-codes, and 64-year-old lost a smaller quarterly amount. Like these two people, there were victims of fraud all over Germany.
Police investigations continued for a long time, only last year, police arrested three people at the age of 21-24 at the moment of receiving cash. While the day of the arrest of other suspects was planned to withdraw money to the lying persons in Bavar, Austria and Switzerland. With information seized by these arrests, police managed to identify organisers, locate Call-Center in Kosovo and finally destroy the gang, writes dpa. The German side had activated police authorities in Dresden, Ansbach, Downstair. /dw/
