Hundreds of people took to the streets shortly after Armenian Prime Minister Nikola Pasinyan announced what he called a painful deal, writes The Guardian.
The official residence of Prime Minister Pasinyan broke window windows, while protesters removed the name letters from the prime minister's door and were heard cheering “Nikoli has betrayed us”.

The police just watched as protesters in whose midst were army veterans wearing uniforms entered government offices, shouting and giving angry speeches.
Protesters also managed to enter the assembly building. The chairman of the assembly, Arrat Mizoyan, was found in the crowd and was beaten by a violent group of protesters until he lost consciousness.

This violence came after the signing of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, mediated by Russia. By means of this agreement, Azerbaijan provides many of its concessions for decades.
Under this agreement, Armenian forces are urged to hand over control in areas they have had outside the borders of Nagorno-Karabakh, including the eastern district of Agdam. The Armenians will also hand over the Lachin region, through which the main route linking Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia passes. This road will be guarded by about 2,000 Russian peacekeepers.
