Former chief negotiator for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Edita Tahiri, has reacted after statements by EU Special Emissar Miroslav Lajcak that Kosovo's Constitution should be changed for association.
Tahiri writes that with this statement, Lajcak has gone beyond what official Belgrade has actually had to change its Constitution to oust Kosovo, which it presents as part of Serbia.
Our government had to ask Serbia to change the constitution by removing Kosovo from its constitution. But we didn't hear that our government asked for something like that.
During my time as chief negotiator in the Brussels dialogue I've been looking for and sending a memorandum to The EU for removing Kosovo from Serbia's Constitution, stressing that this is the starting point towards mutual recognition and not changing the Kosovo Constitution”.
