In Geneva Canton, University Hospital (HUG) urgently needs additional personnel because of the rapid increase in hospital admissions as a result of the second wave of the coronary pandemic, writes the SDA News Agency.
On Sunday the hospital has made a call for former retired employees and those on unpaid holidays to get back to work, broadcast albinfo.ch.
The clinic management is immediately seeking volunteers to take on medical, nursing, or administrative duties, the clinic suggests.
Additional doctors and nurses for intensive care units are required to reinforce and facilitate existing teams in the hospital.
It seems very likely that the peak number, out of 550 patients laid out for Ovid-19, which was recorded during the first wave of the disease in the spring, will be exceeded in the days following”, sends albinfo.ch.ch. So it was quoted as saying in the appeal mentioned, HUG General Director Bertrand Levrat.
“We assume that the number of beds and professionals needed to care for patients from Covid and other diseases will be much higher than the one we have seen this spring”.
The Geneva University Hospital has announced last week the necessary measures.
As in the spring, the hospital will be transformed into a specialised clinic for patients with Covid-19. Meanwhile, except for Coddy-19, only emergency operations will be conducted here. In the spring, additional staffs of 400 were also employed.
Geneva health authorities on Wednesday have voiced fears that they will be overloaded by the flow of patients, albinfo.ch conveys. They fear that they will have to decide which person to treat and who to leave to their destiny.
