Establishment of the majority Serb municipalities in Kosovo is a topic that has troubled the political situation in the country. Right on this issue, the EU is not setting a new date for the upcoming meeting between the Kosovo and Serbian parties in Brussels.
This is due to objections in Kosovo that this association will not have executive competence and Serbia's demand that this association be created on this basis.
Jakup Krasniqi, chairman of the National Council of Social Democrat Initiative, has said the party he is part of is opposed to the establishment of the Serb majority municipalities, with executive competence.
“We are not against the Association, but Kosovo has an association of most municipalities, and that association has its own statute and we consider that it is not a difficulty to be even an Association of Communities with the competencies that pre-empt the Constitution of Kosovo, and that presupposes even the standards of the EU documents especially”, he has said.
Thus, Krasniqi considered the demands to be granted additional competencies to this association.
“So that an association to be in service of citizens as is this association that we have is not a problem, but when it is shown that this association of others is given additional competencies or even to be at a state level we think that they are unreasonable demands and do not intend that this association be in service of citizens to facilitate their lives and create better governance for tax1>, he said in an interview for the Online Front.
Jakup Krasniqi: Serbia not ready for agreement with Kosovo
Despite the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia being resumed, politicians in the country are considering that reaching the final agreement between states is not near.
Former Prime Minister Jakup Krasniqi in an interview for Front Online has said Serbian political leaders are not ready to reach an agreement with Kosovo.
I personally have my doubts that Serbia's top political leaders in Belgrade are not willing to make a real deal with the Republic of Kosovo. They are not willing to recognise the state of Kosovo. They are unwilling to accept the crimes and genocide they have committed in Kosovo. They have not done so with a formal apology, and I see numerous obstacles coming from Belgrade”, he said.
Are there aspirations for the presidential post? Jakup Krasniqi
“Jakup Krasniqi is among politicians with the longest-lived career in Kosovo politics. As such, he may also be among the politicians proposed for the president's position. He has been declared.
He said Kosovo has many other personalities that could love that position more than he does.
I am not guided by the logic that leads many Kosovo leaders, who think they are the only solution. I don't see myself like that. I know that Kosovo has many personalities that can exercise that ceremonial position because rather the position of the president is ceremonial and, of course, because Kosovo's Assembly consists of political parties should be a communication of political parties in the Assembly that are representatives of the Parliament to find a candidate that they would think represents the interests of the country better”, he has said.
Krasniqi has also been asked about the likelihood that Vlora Citaku may be the PDK's proposal for this position. According to him, candidates coming from political parties cannot represent unity.
The current candidates coming from political parties are not easy to be a unifying figure of political parties. That's the main problem. I don't have a problem at Vlora because I know her well and I think her submissions also as ambassador to the SAHBA, but at the UN, I think they've been quite the context”, he said.
Jakup Krasniqi admits: Two fugitives are members of Initiative
Kosovo has been shocked yesterday by the news that a Kosovo Treasury worker with initial L.G. It is alleged that, through four different transactions, it has made the transfer of over 2m euros of budgets to the account of a private company, the LDA Group Shpk, whose owners have been allegedly members of the Initiative.
National Council of Social Democrat Initiative Chairman Jakup Krasniqi has acknowledged that persons involved in the scandal are members of the Initiative, but do not have positions in the country's institutions.
The officer who was in that ministry is not part of the initiative's structures, but the other candidates who have been named are members of the Initiative, but who have not been part of the institutions and of course the Initiative has taken its measures in this direction. For us such an act is unacceptable and that the main responsibility is to the Government and state institutions that have not really taken measures to protect Kosovo taxpayers' money”, he has said, for Front Online.
Krasniqi has considered that the state has failed to protect the data and the possibility of such attacks.
This should mean that these attacks really need a protection and protection should be professional. I consider that state institutions have not taken adequate measures with professionals to protect the attack, and I consider that people who are really good professionals should be able to settle in certain places and they should be stimulated with monthly salaries, that is, the Government has the responsibility to take professional officials in state institutions and that they are well aware of their work and that they are doing their duty”, he said.
Krasniqi: Initiative to compete alone in upcoming elections
In last October 6th elections, last year the Social Democrat Initiative competed in elections with the AKR. They barely even passed the election threshold. Speaking of the upcoming elections, Jakup Krasniqi, chairman of the National Council of Social Democrat Initiative, told Front Online that this party will compete alone.
I don't think it's the time of the coalitions, it shouldn't prejudge. The initiative is also a political party in Parliament. We all make our commitment to strengthen the Initiative. We are also in the initiative's internal elections and government decisions because of the pandemic are preventing us from completing this process we are that whenever elections occur we go as subject to” itself, he said.
