New EU chief in Kosovo talks for Special Court, visa lifting, dialogue

Szunyog has indicated that he has taken office in Kosovo in difficult times of pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus, and says he now has the top priority of helping Kosovo in health and socio-economic terms.
He also in an interview for news.net has said that the European Union is Kosovo's main investor and supporter has revealed details from the European Union for Investment plan in the Western Balkans, citing the figure of 9 billion euros as pre-membership assistance to countries in the region.
Furthermore, rule of law and fighting organised crime, a more efficient electoral system and implementation of the SAA Agreement, according to Szunyog, are of vital importance to Kosovo's development.
“Better social services, more gender equality, less domestic violence, stronger civil society, more independent media, investment in culture and more support and sympathy for different communities and underprivileged groups are also needed in Kosovo.”, Szunyog said.
Speaking of visa liberalisation, Szunyog has indicated that the European Commission and Parliament have repeatedly confirmed that Kosovo has fulfilled all the criteria and that it expects member states to vote for Kosovo visa liberalisation.
Furthermore, Szunyog speaking to the Special Court has indicated that the EU supports the work of the Specialised Chambers and the Specialised Prosecutor's Office and that it is important that they do their work without outside influence.
