53.25 % of the citizens' votes according to the first results has won Milanovic, while 46.75 % Grabar-Kitarovic.
The head of state in Croatia has more ceremonial representative competencies, however, elections are seen as an indication of power in the right and left camps' electorates. The newest EU member Croatia takes over the rotating EU chairmanship on January 1st.
