Pentagon Military: Trump had Soleman's head on the menu. We were shocked he chose to kill him.

In chaotic days that led to the murder of General Kasim Soliman, Iran's most powerful commander, senior US Army officials placed the option of his murder which the option saw as the most extreme in countering Iran's most powerful violence in Iraq on the menu presented to President Donald Trump, Periscope New York Times.
They had not thought Trump would choose that option. In wars fought since September 11, 2001, Pentagon officials have often offered extreme options before presidents just to make other options more enjoyable.
After initially rejecting Solejman's option on December 28th and authorising air strikes on Iranian-backed Shiite military groups, Mr. Trump was looking furiously at television that was showing Iran-backed attacks on the American Embassy in Baghdad, according to these officials.
On Thursday evening, the president changed his mind and decided on the extreme option. Top Pentagon officials were shocked.
Mr. Trump took the decision, top officials say, despite disagreements in administration over threats to embassies, consulates and military personnel in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon.
Some officials have clearly expressed scepticism on the reasonableness of the attack on General Solejman.
Finally, the Iraqi prime minister has also openly indicated that Soleiman would meet him and would not take any action. The purpose of this meeting, according to him, was to find reconciliation with Saudi Arabia. /Periscopi
