KDI Executive Director Ismet Kryeziu has said Croatia has a parliamentary system, but electing the president does it directly by civic votes.
“Today, according to preliminary results, appears to have won former Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic”, wrote Kryeziu in his account at “Facebook”
In terms of the president's election, he has sent a message to the LV and LDK.
“The LV and LDK, in which there have been harmonisation of the governing programmes for expected political reforms, before each agreement would have to agree to start electoral reform”, it wrote.
Kryeziu has said that the president's direct election would help avoid crises that could arise as a result of disagreements over the president's position during reaching coalition coalition agreements.
The president's direct election would enable this institutional post to have values of the constitutional spirit, would escape the composition of this position through political bargaining, would overcome situations that are related to the necessary 80 votes and provoke early selection”, Kryeziu wrote.
