New rules: Everything that is set to change in 2020 in Switzerland
The Swiss newspaper The Local has prepared an article dedicated to the most significant changes that will occur in 2020 in Switzerland.
Consider all the important changes.
Stopping the Use of Plastics
Starting in 2020, the city of Geneva will ban the sale of plastic available at events, as well as the selling points on public property, not only in this city, but in Switzerland.
The city of Geneva from today, January 1, 2020, will practice this law and should be mentioned that limiting plastic use does not only mean plastic bags from supermarket sports, this will also include cups, heels, straws, plates and bags.
Traders have been repeatedly informed of the ban and will face fines of 100 francs if they continue to offer single-use plastics.
The Law on Animal Health
A number of animal welfare laws are set to take effect in January 2020, including preventing the fragmentation of live chickens.
As reported by The Local, the ban will ban the process of tearing up live or crushed chickens in factory egg production.
A number of other changes have also been envisioned, including bans on specific pesticides, as well as support for farmers during drought times.
The law is set to be changed to make it easier for farmers to donate water through military helicopters to feed their cows.
Growth of Social Protection contributions
Workers and employers will see social contributions (AVS / AI / APG / AC) increase from 12.45 per cent to 12.75 per cent in 2020. This increase will guarantee more than 2 billion francs per year in social insurance.
Minimum monthly social security payments will remain fixed at 1,185 francs. However, the basic wage for home owners will increase by 1.6 per cent.
Environmental measures
The new vehicles will have to meet specific regulations concerning CO2 emissions. They can't release more than 95 grams of CO2 per mile. The average is currently about 138 grams / km. The leaders will be responsible for fines for failing to meet.
Refuge
Owners of homes wishing to replace old buildings will be able to undo tax costs. The measure aims to encourage owners to improve energy efficiency in their housing.
Health Care
Starting in 2020, drug costs for chronic patients will be more effectively considered in the risk compensation system among health providers.
Nurses will be able to assess the needs of care for patients without a doctor's intervention.
Also, Switzerland will be able to monitor better the development of cancers and create early prevention and detection measures thanks to a new national registry.
Internet
The Internet will be three times faster next year. For download, speed will be at least 10 megabits per second (Mbit / s) instead of the current 3.
Cash Exchange
Swiss residents will be able to exchange their old appointments of a thousand francs issued between 1976 and 1979.
Marriage
The bride and groom will no longer have to wait 10 days to marry after receiving agreement from local authorities. But they shall marry in the presence of two witnesses for a short period.
Retired Age
A major change that will take place in 2020 is probably an increase in retirement age for women.
Currently, at 64 years of age, the federal government is in favour of establishing it at 65 years of age, however, the level that is set for men will have to pass a public consultation sometime in early 2020.
Trains
Fortunately for passengers on the train, more and more urban and regional lines will be added from 2020 onward.
You can also learn more about the Leman Express network, which opened on December 15th 2019 by improving travel time and cutting traffic.
Health Insurance Primes
Health insurance duties are set to increase by 2020. The average Primi is set to grow by around 0.2 per cent to approximately CHF 315.14 per month.
Note, however, that there are changes from canton to canton, so contact local authorities to see the exact amount of your growth.
Rate
Switzerland's aging population has envisioned a need to increase contributions to the pension fund of the old (AHV).
For the first time in 40 years, the contribution made by employees will increase from 8.4 per cent to 8.7 per cent, though half of this increase will be paid by employers.
Corporation Taxes
For anyone with a company in Switzerland, there are some important changes to the corporate tax, although these are a little more complicated to fully describe here. KPMG has provided a full summary of tax changes.
Tax Laws
The new year brings with it not only changes in tax laws but also in Switzerland's character and taxes more widely.
In 2020, the European Union will change Switzerland's status from “tax 48x1> to what is in line with the EU, removing strict controls on transactions within the EU.
As the decision was made in October, it will become official as of 1 January 2020.
Doctors, medicine, and therapeutic products
On January 1st, doctors will be limited by obtaining financial benefits from separate drug companies, if that could affect the selection of treatment.
Price discounts will also be limited, while all discounts must be passed on to patients that means doctors will no longer be allowed to benefit.
Organ donors' rules
In 2020, the Federal Government is set to present new rules of organ donors to parliament. Under the rules, every Swiss resident will be supposed to agree to donate their organs unless they give up.
While the proposal has broad support among the Swiss population, there have been some objections, especially in the Lucern and Zug cantons.
Although the government plans to bring the new bill to parliament, there is no specific date when laws will be introduced, Albinfo.ch broadcasts.
