The research director at the GAP institute, Jeton Mehmeti, has said that according to data it turns out that about 79 per cent of women are inactive in the Kosovo labour market.
So has he said in the series Eyes 7 in Klan Kosova, adding that there are statistics that are encouraging, like those involving the increasing number of girls studying and graduating in public and private universities.
It's a statistical report we've published yesterday (three in a row) with which we intend to collect statistics from public institutions that have to do with women's employment, women's representation in leadership positions, with the education of girls and their social well-being generally”.
There are statistics that are encouraging, like those dealing with increasing the number of girls studying and graduating from public and private universities in our country”.
But there are also highly discouraging statistics dealing with the very low level of women's employment, and especially with the women's economic activity in general in Kosovo”.
“According to data it turns out that about 79 per-percent of women are inactive in the Kosovo labour market, meaning that only a small part of them are working”.
If you look at the data that the Employment Agency is offering in Kosovo on the number of registered job seekers, it turns out that men and women are approximately at the same level as the interest of finding a place to work”.
Mehmeti has said that about 55 thousand men, as well as 46 thousand women, are registered as unemployed at the Employment Agency in Kosovo”.
“There are several factors that discriminate against women, beginning with the language of competitions that are compiled in the male language. The other problem is the composition of the interview panel, where we have seen that in most cases the panel is dominated by the men”.
What is known is that Kosovo has the highest unemployment rate in the region, and this number also contributes to women's unemployment”.
