The latest victim quake occurred in Shkodra on April 15, 1979, where an 8 - magnitude earthquake caused 40 deaths and damaged 17,18 homes.
But this was no longer the deadliest for the northern city. On June 1, 1905, the quake in Shkodra left 200 dead.
On 22 December 1919, the quakes rocked the area of Leskovik, Konica and border areas with Greece, while there were no casualties data, but the damages were huge.
A year later, it was Elbasan's turn, where an earthquake was recorded, causing 14 casualties, more than 300 injuries, and many destroyed homes.
March 30th of 1921, the quakes were felt in Bishop and Great Debar, but there was no evidence of human damage, while dozens of homes were destroyed.
Four years after the country's liberation, in August 1948, the Shkodra area was affected by the quake and then reported a dead man and 27 injured, but also major damage, including injuries to Buna's bed.
On September 1st 1959, the earthquake swept through the Myzeat area. A total of 944 homes have been damaged, while many other objects are destroyed.
Less than eight years a strong earthquake rocked the area of Librazhd and the Great Debar in Macedonia. At that time, 12 dead and 174 wounded were marked, as well as over 6,336 buildings destroyed.
The last strong quake has been recorded in Tirana in January 1988, where the main damage was in the villages of Arbana and Petrella. / TCH/
