Owners of a 17th-century French castle were tied up until their affluent house was being raided by thieves who fled with 2 million euros, authorities have said.
The Vaux-le-Vicomte Palace, which is among the expensive gardens in southeastern Paris, was owned by the same family from 1875 before they were taken under the administration of Cristina de Vogue and Patrice de Vogue in 1968, writes The Guardian, the Periscope.
Beatrice Angelelli-Lamotte, prosecutor, said there were six thieves who did not seem to be armed.
Willa was built by the finance minister of King Louis XIV, Nicolas Fauquet, who, as legend put it, lost his glory in 1661.
Fauquet spent the rest of his life in prison. Then the king had taken the castle.
