Albania's acting Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj in his address to the UN General Assembly said Albania is working intensively and has excellent partnership with its allies. Cakaj praised that Albania has worked and expects the opening of negotiations in October.
Albania's acting Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj's full word:
The central topic of the works of this session will be effective multilaterism. In other words, it will be discussed co-ordinating efforts in the service of living the objectives of the Aegean 2030 targets, with particular emphasis on breaching extreme poverty and discussing forms of co-operation to deal with the challenges resulting from climate change.
Albania, in addition to active participation in these discussions and providing co-operation on these platforms, also provides its concrete example of a state dedicated to the principles of effective multilaterism.
Albania has been characterised over all these years by a more active and dynamic participation in international organisations and multilateral platforms, starting with increased NATO commitments, focusing particularly on Albanian O Chiefship The EU of 2020 and specifically highlighting the fact that Albania aspires to take a seat of non-human Security Council member in 2022.
Given that there is a large number of political and diplomatic contacts on this platform, we have special interest this time to engage in providing support for Albania's candidacy for the Security Council in 2022.
At the same time, this is the main interest of Albania's commitments at this General Assembly work session. We will hold a considerable number of meetings, with a series of member states of the European Union, in service of the opening of membership negotiations in October, and also carrying out our duties under the leadership of the Adriatic Charter, which Albania has for this year.
Therefore, in co-operation with the United States and all participating countries of the region, we will organise the Adriatic Charter meeting to further consolidate regional co-operation on security issues.
In a word, Albania will perform a considerable number of its foreign policy interests, within the United Nations General Assembly platform this time.
Starting in the region, European integration process, Albanian leadership of O The SEU of 2020 and, of course, specifically undersigning our aspirin to secure the non-permental member's seat at the 2022 Security Council.
In the end, it is noteworthy that with this vast range of efforts and with the level of results Albania has scored in the international arena so far, we, in addition to accompanying discussions on effective multilateralism, also provide a tangible example of how multilateral co-operation may appear in general.
